Shannon Towson

Registered Psychologist

With more than 23 years of experience in the mental health field, Shannon is a Registered Psychologist who works with adults and couples through a wide range of life challenges. Her background began in nonprofit frontline work, where she supported some of the most vulnerable and marginalized individuals. Those early experiences helped shape the compassionate, practical, and non-judgmental way she approaches therapy today.

Shannon has experience supporting clients through trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, substance use concerns, emotional overwhelm, and patterns of behaviour that can leave people feeling stuck. Rather than approaching therapy with a predetermined idea of where someone should be, Shannon takes the time to understand where they are now and what they want their life to look like moving forward.

Her style is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with therapy shaped around each client rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. She incorporates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), positive psychology, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy when appropriate.

Shannon’s goal is to help clients better understand themselves, develop practical tools for navigating difficult emotions and experiences, and build confidence in their ability to make meaningful changes. She believes self-compassion is an important part of that process and that while therapy may sometimes be challenging, you don’t have to navigate that work alone.
