Dr. Jasmin Bal is a psychiatrist and addiction medicine physician dedicated to supporting individuals and families in their recovery journey. She completed her undergraduate degree, medical degree, and Psychiatry Residency Program at the University of Alberta, followed by a fellowship in Addiction Medicine. She holds the designation of Diplomate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (DRCPSC) in Addiction Medicine and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (FRCPC) in Psychiatry.
Throughout her training, Dr. Bal received several awards, including the Undergraduate Medical Education Award and the Psychiatry Residency Award in Addiction Psychiatry, recognizing her commitment to excellence in both clinical care and education.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Bal serves as a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta. She is passionate about teaching the next generation of physicians and advancing the field of addiction psychiatry and general psychiatry.
Dr. Bal has specialized training in a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She values a holistic and evidence-based approach to treatment, integrating psychotherapy with medical care to best support recovery and mental wellness.
