Addiction Counsellor
Alex is an addictions counsellor with a Master of Counselling Psychology and an undergraduate degree in Psychology. He brings a grounded, trauma-informed perspective to his work, supporting individuals as they navigate addiction, mental health challenges, and major life transitions.
Alex’s clinical background includes work as a mental health therapist and in a group home setting, where he supported clients facing a wide range of concerns, including ADHD, ODD, anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, learning differences, and self-esteem challenges. These experiences have given him a strong clinical foundation and a deep appreciation for each person’s unique story. His approach draws on evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy. He is committed to tailoring his approach to each client’s individual needs, strengths, and goals.
Understanding the significant impact trauma can have on both mental health and addiction, Alex focuses on helping clients make sense of their experiences while developing practical tools for resilience and meaningful change. He brings warmth, authenticity, collaboration, and humour into his work, creating a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their emotions without judgment.
At Brick House Recovery Centre, Alex is dedicated to fostering healing, empowerment, and renewed hope. He strongly believes in each person’s capacity for growth and feels honoured to walk alongside clients as they rebuild their lives and reconnect with what matters most.
