High-Intensity Outpatient Program | Brick House Recovery Centre | Alberta

Structured, evidence-based care for addiction and mental health

Addiction High-Intensity Outpatient Program (H-IOP)

Think of H-IOP as the next step up from a regular Intensive Outpatient or Day Program you might find elsewhere. The Brick House Addiction H-IOP delivers more hours each week, daily sessions, and closer clinical monitoring (including biological monitoring), ideal for people who need more than traditional outpatient therapy but don’t require full residential bed-based treatment. Our H-IOP can also be used as a step-down for individuals who have completed inpatient care and want a supported transition into real life.

The Brick House Recovery High-Intensity Outpatient Program (H-IOP) offers structured, multidisciplinary care that helps clients build coping skills, manage triggers, and foster resilience, all while maintaining daily responsibilities and community connections. Designed primarily for individuals seeking integrated care for substance use and mental health conditions such as burnout, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other impairing disorders.

This program delivers the structure of inpatient care with daily programming, comprehensive group and individual sessions, as well as psychiatric oversight when needed. It is ideal for those needing substantial support who wish to remain actively engaged with their family, community, or other important commitments.

Why Choose the Brick House Recovery Addiction H-IOP?

Tailored Care Plan

Every client receives a thorough assessment as part of their care plan at Brick House Recovery. When appropriate, psychiatric consultation and medication-assisted treatment options are available to support personalized treatment plans that adapt as you progress in recovery.

Clinical Expertise

Led by experienced therapists and informed by addiction specialists, our program combines psychological therapies, medical support, and recovery coaching to provide comprehensive, integrated care.

Whole-Person Approach

We use a biopsychosocial-spiritual model, incorporating aspects of 12-Step Facilitation, SMART Recovery, and trauma-informed approaches. Wellness programming, such as art therapy, yoga, and nutrition/food preparation, further supports holistic recovery.

Measured Outcomes

We track progress using validated measures and provide clients and referral sources with regular updates and discharge planning support.

Integrated Mental Health Treatment

Every H-IOP stream includes care for concurrent disorders, so whether your substance use is tied to mood symptoms, trauma, or ADHD, we address the whole picture.

Real-Life Reintegration

We help you apply recovery tools in real-time, navigating work, relationships, and stress without isolating you from your life.

Employer-Friendly, Function-Focused

We collaborate closely with employers, disability case managers, and insurers to support your safe and sustainable return to work. Our approach focuses on reducing disability time, building resilience, and helping you maintain functional recovery at work and in daily life.

Group & Individual Therapy

Designed by experts, our program includes daily group sessions and weekly individual treatment that foster insight, motivation, and a strong sense of community. We integrate DBT approaches alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused therapies into treatment. In addition, specialized groups address emotional regulation, relapse prevention, trauma, interpersonal effectiveness, and values-based living.

The Next Step

Whether you connect with the H-IOP in person at our centres in Barrhead, Calgary, or Edmonton, or through our confidential virtual care options from anywhere in Alberta, our team is ready to support you.
