Dr. Avi Aulakh

Dr. Aulakh is an Addiction Psychiatrist with extensive expertise in addiction and mental health treatment. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2000 from the St. Petersburg State Medical Academy in Russia and completed his Psychiatry Residency at the University of Alberta in 2014. That same year, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Aulakh further specialized by completing a Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry in 2015 and earning Diplomate status with the American Board of Addiction Medicine in 2015. In 2024, he was certified in Addiction Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Aulakh has held numerous leadership roles in addiction medicine. He served as the Medical Lead for the Opioid Dependency Program in 2015, the Clinical Lead at Addiction Services from 2015 to 2019, and the Section Chief of Addictions for Alberta Health Services North Zone from 2016 to 2019. He is also the President and Founder of the National Advocacy of Substance Abuse and Harm Reduction in Adults and Adolescents (NASHAA).

At Brick House Recovery Centre, Dr. Aulakh brings over a decade of experience helping individuals recover from addiction and mental health challenges. He specializes in treating opioid, alcohol, and other substance use disorders and provides expert psychiatric care for co- occurring conditions. In addition to his work at Brick House Recovery Centre, Dr. Aulakh practices at Savera Medical Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, where he provides comprehensive addiction and mental health services.
